Sustainable Design

As architects, we are charged with protecting the health, safety and welfare of the communities that we serve.  We believe that serving this greater good can only be achieved by arriving at a sustainable balance between the economic, social and ecological considerations that are applicable to each unique opportunity.  That is to say, we believe we can only protect our community's health, safety and welfare through an integrated, sustainable design process.

Omniplan is committed to sustainable design.  We are members of the US Green Building Council, and almost half of our professional staff is LEED Accredited Professionals, including our Principals.  While not all of our clients or projects require LEED certification, we still set a LEED Silver level of sustainability for every project as a minimum goal.  We do this for the same reason that we design a building that is outside the jurisdiction of any municipal building inspection authority, to standards of life safety, structural soundness, accessibility, etc., sufficient to protect the health, safety and welfare of the facility's future occupants.  We believe it is equally important to design a building that creates an uplifting built environment without damaging the natural one.  We also believe that through a truly integrated design process, this level of sustainable design does not have to cost more, and in fact, we believe that it can cost less, and will certainly cost less to operate.
